At nitric acid recovery from waste gases containing NOx necessary conditions can be determined according to equation (7). As the most important in this case is the transformation of NOx component, NO and NO2 to N2O4and creation of such reaction conditions to ensure a optimum course of the reaction to nitric acid in liquid phase.

At the same time it is necessary to take into consideration the following principles :
1.  Closed process control and a reduction of flow-rate of drawn off waste gases according to the recommendation /2/
2.  Acceleration of reaction phases (1) and (2) by using DGE- spray condensation washers and catalysts
By combined implementation of closed process control according to point 2 an optimum course of NO2/N2O4- absorption with nitric acid and fast NO oxidation takes place .
The whole process control, therefore, is dependent exclusively on the following parameters :
  • Washing process temperature, particularly waste gas temperature, pause time and
  • catalyst quality
In methods developed by firm DGE the NOx separation by nitric acid and catalytic transformation from NO to NO2in gas phase is carried out with the use of such a process which is in operation without any addition or with an addition of a very small quantity of hydrogen peroxide at extremely low concentrations of the purified gas. At maintaining a necessary reaction temperature a maximum transformation of N2O4 is ensured .
